meat and fish | sizzling stir-fried beef

Serves 2

Another easy to cook recipe, and relatively quick once the initial preparations are complete. Its ideal as a special dish you could cook together as once the initial preparation is done, the actual cooking time is relatively quick, and the result is scrumptious!

Wheat free, dairy free, nut free version...

Ingredients...

Optional:

Method...

  1. Cut the steak into thin strips, place in a shallow bowl and add the sherry and the tamari. Stir well until the meat is coated, and leave to one side for 30 minutes.
  2. Cut the carrots, leeks and red pepper and ginger into thin strips.
  3. Heat the oil in a wok until slightly smoking. Remove the beef from the marinade using a slotted spoon and fry for 2 minutes.
  4. Using the slotted spoon, remove the beef to a separate container and keep warm.
  5. Add the vegetables to the wok and stir fry for 3 minutes.
  6. Add the beef and the marinade and cook for a further 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are cooked but still crisp.

Maybe serve with...

A bowl of basmati rice - just ladle the stir-fried beef over the top allowing the juices to spread.

For those able to eat wheat...

It is possible to use ordinary soy sauce rather than tamari - tastes just as good!

For those who can eat meat...

For a cheaper version of the dish, you could substitute sirloin or rump steak, or even pork fillet or chicken breast.
